Biography
I graduated from a top American business college three years ago, receiving many accolades and awards upon my departure. I was recruited by several top multinational corporations and went on to work for a prestigious consumer products company in a great position.
However, in less than a year, I decided to leave my lucrative position to pursue the least likely career path possible for someone with my background... I decided to become a rapper. And I can't lie, even I thought I was crazy!
A few years later, after putting in an incredible amount of work to hone my skills and linking up with musical partners who share my vision, I'm starting to see that maybe I wasn't so crazy after all.
I'm still in the early phases of promoting and getting my music out, but I've already released a professional EP that is in local stores and have played a few shows. So far, all of our shows have been successful and left the venues and promoters extremely pleased. We've been asked to come back each time. One venue even wanted us to become the house act and play every Saturday.
Musically, our aim is to capture the up-beat, distinct rhythms of old school hip hop and juxtapose it with newer sounds and pop melodies. Lyrically, my song-writing has a Will Smith tongue-in-cheek element to it, with a fun laid-back delivery. In our serious songs, the storytelling and emotionality of the songwriting more closely resembles country music or rock acts like Coldplay and U2. In those songs, our aim is to make them a celebratory outlet for emotional release, rather than an opportunity to be sorrowful.
My purpose in music is to write songs that people can connect with and dance to, and make sure everyone has a good time.
