Artist Information Biography Jeanette Lee's folk/pop tunes live in starlit harbours, morning papers and neon-lit bars. "After a Dark Horse Year" is Jeanette's second record, a breezy acoustic EP. She is now working with producer Scott Dibble (Hemingway Corner, Watertown, Juno-nominated for the song "Watch Over You") on her next project. Jeanette has shared the stage with artists including Alun Piggins, Stephen Stanley & Carla MacNeill, Peter Bloom, Robyn Dell'Unto, Bunmi Adeoye, Karyn Ellis, and Swedish Fish. "After a Dark Horse Year" means after 2002, the Black Horse Year under the Chinese lunar calendar. The songs echo the foreboding of the times. The track "Paper Dove" sums up the elements: hard news, broken promises and courage. The track was included on the sold out "Songs Under Starlight" charity CD compilation. Jeanette's song "Belsize Park" (unreleased) won an honourable mention in the American Songwriter Magazine lyric contest in May/June 2007. Jeanette's self-titled solo debut album was released in early 2005. Tracks from both discs have been played on U.S. and Canadian conventional and internet radio, including CBC Radio One, radioioacoustic.com, mvyradio.com, the She Grooves Radio Show and the Women of Substance Radio (live365.com). Camellia Records (formerly Moondog Music) is Jeanette's artist-owned record label. Her music is available on CDBaby, iTunes, eMusic and other digital services.
