Biography
Montreal-born Julie Crochetiere [pronounced crow-shey-tee-air] is an independent Canadian singer songwriter whose heart wrenching vocals and soothing soulful arrangements are making their way into the consciousness of the mainstream.  Julie's music is a fusion of pop, soul, rhythm and blues and a touch of jazz.

After a successful tenure with Universal Music pop group "Sugar Jones" under her belt, two top ten hits, a platinum selling record and two national tours (one as the opening act for Destiny's Child and the second as the headliner), Julie was intent on honing her songwriting skills and carving out her own musical path.

In 2008 Julie's passion and dedication finally paid off.  Her debut full length album "A Better Place", on which she collaborated with "Jack Souls" Haydain Neale sold over 25 000 copies in Canada, the USA and Europe and became the 8th highest downloaded album on iTunes Canada's soul/R&B chart.  "A Better Place" also produced 3 hit music videos, which are currently on rotation on Bravo, MuchMoreMusic and Musimax.  The album's first single "Precious Love" soared to #18 on the Canadian AC charts and stayed in the top 20 for 20 weeks.  "Precious Love" is also nominated for Best Mainstream Adult Contemporary Song at the 2009 Canadian Radio Music Awards.  In 2008 Precious Love was nominated for best new single and Julie was nominated for best female vocalist at the Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards.

In 2008 Julie worked tirelessly performing in venues and music festivals across Canada, the USA and Europe.  In March 2008, Julie also launched her "Play it Forward" concert series, which gives kids a chance to perform on stage in a professional show.  Play it Forward combines live entertainment with community building for local kid's music programs.  The show inspires children to play an instrument, sing, write songs and perform.  Today the amazing success of Play it Forward has left an indelible impression on the lives of hundreds of children and adults alike.

Julie was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec.  She studied classical piano from the age of 6 and began singing in her high school concert band at the age of 14.  Julie went on to study music at CEGEP Lionel Groulx.

In 2003, Julie wrote and independently released her first EP, Cafe, which was co-produced with Haig V (Bran Van 3000).  This release led to performances at some of the most highly esteemed live music venues in Toronto, Montreal and New York, including the Toronto and Ottawa Jazz Festivals, Canadian Music Week, North by Northeast, and the Montreal International Jazz Festival.

Fan Quotes:

"I was walking through the Chicago Airport last week and I heard the song "Maybe We'll Meet Again" playing on a stereo display.  I was held in place by this songs and had to know who it was the player was on a 'random' setting so as I stood there the next song to play was "Shine".  Again, I'm just like "wow this is good music!!" So just after hearning those two songs I had to buy your album.  And I've been playing you ever since" Frankie Le'Troy

"My wife recently heard your music from "A Better Place " playing at a Brookstone in an airport and went nuts and had to buy the cd.  It's all we've listened to during the Memorial Day weekend.  We absolutely love the album and your incredible voice.  We look forward to hearing more of you." Jay and Carol Jackson

"I heard your song "Precious Love" played on The Wave 94.7 and I was moved to tears listening to it.  I have not had a song do that to me in a ling time.  I am looking forward to getting my hands on the cd." Wayne
