Biography
Zukerman’s web site comes with a stern warning: “You may not be able to get over the mesmerizing guitar chops of Natalia Zukerman.” It’s a legit concern, for Zukerman’s slithery bottleneck slide will lure you in with the very first lick—and once you’ve heard the tender resonance of her blues-folk melodies, you’ll sink even deeper into the intimate, sweetly sophisticated lyrics that layer her dexterously played tunes with tales of discovery, love, irreverence, and reinvention.
Her most recent release, "Brand New Frame" was produced by guitar great Willy Porter and released on his label, Weasel Records. “Brand New Frame is a perfect fit with what I’ve always wanted Weasel to represent," said Porter. "The small but mighty team here is thrilled to share Natalia’s record, and tremendous talent, with the world.”
Zukerman has also been working on her side player and sessions chops and can be heard featured on Porter's newest release "How To Rob A Bank." Zukerman has been seen of late as a side player for Susan Werner and Catie Curtis. As someone who has opened for such acoustic luminaries as Richard Shindell, Cheryl Wheeler, Peter Mulvey, Shawn Colvin, Ani DiFranco, Glen Phillips and many others, it is exciting for Zukerman's audience to see her add to her many talents by appearing as a side player for many of these main acts as well. By being the opening act and having the chops to sit in with the main act, Zukerman is able to showcase not only her songwriting and performance skills but also her innovative and tasty approach to the guitar and dobro.
Early 2010 will see the release of Zukerman's second record on Weasel Records.
