Biography Ministry The ministry of MC Psalmist revolves around the concept of worship. He believes that worship is the most essential thing for every believer to understand; anyone can praise God, but only believers can worship Him, especially in spirit and truth. It is MC Psalmist's understanding that worship requires sacrifice (Romans 12:1; Genesis 22) and thus, worship is a lifestyle. Through his music, MC Psalmist hopes to inspire all believers to a worshipful lifestyle and give the glory of the lifestyle transformation completely to Jesus. MC Psalmist also seeks to see all men come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ so they can enter into a worshipful lifestyle. Like Paul, he preaches Christ and him crucified at every function. Christ bears witness to the father, and the spirit bears witness to Christ; thus, the spirit in MC Psalmist cries out to bear witness to Christ. It is not enough to present Christ, but to see and witness people's transformation through Him, and this is precisely the goal of MC Psalmist's ministry. His thought pattern echoes that of Horatius Bonar: "Men cannot but feel that if religion is worth anything,it is worth everything; that if it calls for any measure of zeal or warmth, it will justify the utmost degrees of these; and that there is no consistent medium between reckless atheism and the intensest warmth of religious zeal." Bio David “MC Psalmist” Liciaga was born on April 27, 1981 as the popularity of rap music and Hip Hop culture was on the sharp incline. New York City birthed him, and Queens borough raised him through a myriad of tough issues. Through his childhood and adolescent years, he dealt with demonic attacks, a fascination with gang culture, lust and pornography, and multiple accounts of theft; his dedication to dj'ing, producing and rapping drew him further into a pit of lies and exposed him to things that desensitized him to sin; thank God for redemption! MC Psalmist encountered the life altering power of Jesus Christ at age 16 at a summer youth program. Immediately, he was delivered from the desire to commit the sins he had previously become accustomed to; he left his job as a dj and immersed himself in the WORD and soon after started a Christian club at his high school, through which he evangelized to many of his schoolmates. It was also at age 16 that he began to use his talents of rapping and music production for the LORD. MC Psalmist began to rap with some fellow youth group members at multiple youth functions and saw many young people come to the soul saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. His excitement for evangelism grew with every soul saved underneath his ministry and it became apparent to him that God wanted to redeem Hip Hop culture. MC Psalmist embarked on a campus to campus and city to city evangelism tour over the next few years and saw hundreds of young people delivered and saved; he participated and led many secular CD bonfires, praise and worship, inner city crusades and deliverance services; he also dedicated himself to learning how to artfully preach Jesus through a relevant medium and continues to refine the method to this day. Having released 4 full length albums and 10+ mix tapes, MC Psalmist has delivered an alternative to the sin sick rap music of this world to over 25,000 households and has received hundreds, if not thousands, of testimonies of how the music has affected lives for the better. MC Psalmist has also seen hundreds, if not thousands, of people set free through his evangelistic efforts in the mid-west and east coast regions of America and hopes to expand the ministry to a nationwide, if not worldwide, effort shortly. With an undying effort, he pursues his goal to reach every hood, barrio, slum and city with salvation through Jesus while simultaneously challenging those in the faith to a deeper, more committed relationship with the LORD. With every CD released and every show performed, MC Psalmist grows stronger in the faith and in his commitment to seeing people set FREE! His current project, “Heart of Worship”, seeks to call the church back to a commitment to a Romans 12:1-2 relationship with the LORD with the understanding that “worship requires sacrifice.” He continues to reach out and encourage many through daily devotionals and bible studies. MC Psalmist is intent on seeing lives transformed and this world changed, and hopes and prays that you will assist him in reaching that goal. He hopes to impact the church through igniting the youth and change the world by impacting the lost. This is accomplished through the dual tasks of rapping and preaching. The music just prepares the heart to be ministered to, but the Word changes lives. The Psalmist currently rocks the stage to a CD; it is only him and a hype man, Johnny Moral, on stage. These two brothers, bonded together by the love of Christ, reach out to God and the audience simultaniously and usher in a memorable experience.
