Acknowledging individual growth is an important part of personal progress. Some keep journals, some fill scrapbooks, while others chart their height in the doorway to their bedroom. Boston singer-songwriter Brian Bergeron recorded music. Since his first experiences with his high school band at 17, Bergeron recorded EP after EP, expanded the scope of his songwriting and cut his teeth in the clubs, colleges and coffeehouses of the Northeast. In the summer of 2008, at the age of twenty-three, Bergeron decided he was finally ready to record his first full-length release. "I was scared," Brian admits. "I had released a steady flow of recordings for years and I wanted it to build up to something. I was at that point where I needed to make a statement." Brian approached Boston music veteran and CBS Records Recording Artist Will Dailey (who Bergeron had worked with the year before). Dailey agreed to produce the release. It was under Dailey’s production that they took new songs that Brian had been working on and coupled them with re-tooled versions of old favorites to put together a record. It took eight months but the result is, We’ve Got To Find An Easier Way, an album that touches on Americana, Indie and Pop-Rock, and Folk. "There were days when I thought we weren’t going to meet the deadline," Brian recalls. "But the truth was, there was no deadline. The most important thing was getting it right." The album represents a culmination of the last six years of work for Bergeron. From the kick-off ballad “Let Me In” to the Indie-Rock stomp of “Hanging Around” to the rollicking “Gracie”, this album acknowledges inspiration from influential artists like Jackson Browne, Tom Petty, Matt Nathanson, and Ryan Adams. The release of We’ve Got to Find an Easier Way will kick off a busy summer for Brian Bergeron, both as a solo act and with his band. He plans on returning for a fourth season as a member of Faneuil Hall’s renowned street performing program, entertaining a large, international audience in one of the nation’s busiest tourist attractions. Additionally, a summer residency at one of Boston’s waterfront institutions, The Barking Crab, will give Brian and an even more diverse audience to play for. Armed with a new release and a packed schedule, Bergeron is excited to watch the next stage of his development begin.
