Biography
Derek has been playing professionally in clubs/bars and festivals throughout the U.S. since he was old enough to get in the door. The current line-up of musicians makes for an easy, lush merger of rock/folk and pop that can translate to a large audience...small, intimate venue, or anything in between.
Though sometimes laid back, the music is extremely powerful through honest lyrics that speak from real world experience and melodies that feel as if they've always just been there.
Derek's music has been influenced by or said to sound like: The Beatles, Paul Simon, Elliott Smith, Damien Rice, Iron and Wine, Neil Young, Death Cab and Bright Eyes.
Instrumentation
Derek Rando is the singer/songwriter/guitarist sometimes toting a harmonica.
Nick Yeager is the man on bass...usually playing the upright with a bow.
Sarah Gaut is an amazing and accomplished violinist, often joining the arrangement.
