Artist Information Biography Compared to artists such as M. Ward, Devendra Banhart, Martha Wainwright, and the Damien Rice/Lisa Hannigan duo, indie singer/songwriters Mia and Jonah have a live show which is “likely to stir audiences from the magical trance induced only by those special performers who create what they live and live what they create.” (Eugene Weekly) When they met in the fall of 2003, they had no idea that they would produce 2 albums together and complete a nation wide tour with their second – “Rooms for Adelaide” by 2008. Their music has been described as, “songs of singular beauty, played and sung without pretense” by the SF Chronicle as well as, “Genuine, timeless and telling” (Tunejar). From packed house concerts, to coffee houses, and large venues, such as “Monterey Live” (CA), “Hotel Congress” (AZ), “Sam Bond’s Garage” (OR), “Virgin Mega Store” (CO/CA), "The Bitter End (NY) Mia and Jonah have an onstage chemistry described as a “made in heaven coupling” (North Bay Bohemian). “I was watching them play “Wave”. It was already a favorite song, but it gave everybody the chills” An enchanted fan. “We met during a gig at “Ex’pression College for Digital Media” in Emeryville, CA.” Mia describes their first interaction. “We were both on the bill. I fell asleep in the back and by the time I woke up, my ride home mysteriously and somewhat synchronistically disappeared. Jonah and his crew of musicians were there and invited to give me a lift home. Jonah had one little stipulation; he couldn’t take me to my house (all the way over the Bay Bridge) till the next morning. The rest as they say – is history.” Jonah, a film/drama major at Dartmouth College is very excited about their next project. “It will include music as well as visual art to tell a story about love, magic, life and death.” Mia and Jonah have shared stages as solo and duo artists with Sean Hayes, Jolie Holland, Toshi Reagon, Camper Van Beethoven’s Jonathan Segel and Victor Krummencher and AJ Roach.
