Biography
Dawson’s New Rage is an original music whirlwind and is the creation of Dallas' based songwriter Mike Dawson. His musical explorations with classical piano, electronica, Latin, and jazz create songs that tell stories, discuss current affairs, and celebrate simple pleasures of life. Using music of Billy Joel, Carlos Santana, and Peter Gabriel as his launch pad, Dawson takes listeners south of the Texas border adding Latin jazz and art rock to the musical mix. Critics and audiences agree: Dawson’s New Rage rocks with jazz soul.

I have just completed vocal tracking with my songwriting collaborator Lisa Lazo. We recorded basic tracks at The Hive in North Hollywood. Now just a few overdubs to go in Dallas and we start mixing. Grammy Trustee Chris Bell is our engineer (Chris' recording credits include: The Eagles, Erykah Badu).

Dawson recently recorded basic tracks for new music at 311's studio THE HIVE in North Hollywood. This great room has provided a great vibe for new music that will be released in 2009.

TEXAS WORLD MUSIC CONCERTS
As the visionary of the performance arts collective Texas World Music Concerts, Dawson’s works with engineer/producers Tye Robison and Chris Bell. Television, radio, and film producers of the southwest have featured Dawson. He collaborates with Chicago composer/saxophonist Mitch Paliga (Gary Sinese's Lt. Dan Band) and Texas trumpet legend Steve Howard (Paul McCartney, Edgar Winter).
