Artist Information Biography Fab is a Belgian-American hip hop blues band. Jazz drums, upright bass, Delta blues guitar, and a hip hop DJ team up for an eccentric sound from 21st century Chicago. Bandleader and guitarist Fabien Van der Stappen is a native of Belgium. In gritty French and broken English, he proclaims -- and promises to cure -- the international vice grip of the blues. Fab's first album, "I Didn't Choose the Mood" was released in 2005. In 2006, Fab participated in compilation Heavy Breathing VOL 1 “Bite it” on Normal records distributed in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. The second album, "Incursions ostentatoires", is released on Label Travers in Belgium distributed by AMG in Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg. The new album features Swiss artist Chris Harper on harmonica, and the lead slide guitar work of Max Getzel from Urban Twang. Van der Stappen has worked for many years as a sound engineer, and produces bands in Chicago for his own label, Fabsound Records. His influences include Willie Dixon, Tom Waits, G. Love, Beck, Portishead, Serge Gainsbourg, and an array of bluesmen.
