Birth of Latin Reggae - Renée Asteria & UNIVERZOO Renée Asteria’s junior album “Faces of Agent Double E” (2007) produced with Argentine producer Matias Martyn (aka UNIVERZOO), marked a stylistic transition by taking her Latin-folk style and weaving it into Reggae. “Faces of Agent Double gained international recognition for Renée’s innovative Latin Reggae tune “Vinchuca”. Renée & Matias have again combined forces producing a new set of tunes to be released in 2009-2010. RASSS - Renée Asteria & Sun Sound System In parallel to working with UNIVERZOO, Renée Asteria is growing roots in the SF Bay area where she is collaborating with Soja Music Productions (Jamie Soja, manager of Pangea & the Chris Berry Trio, booking agent for Youssoupha Sidibe and Lynx &Janover), and musicians Waddell Bell, Lou Neuburger and Wally Scharold. Together with Mbutchu Yindja (Bay area-based Congolese American singer, aka Godé), the female-duo fronted act under the name Sun Sound System (Renée Asteria & Sun Sound System = RASSS) has been born.
