Biography
Dylan Kight hails from Atlanta, GA. He began recording 4 track demos as early as the age of 14. He cut his teeth playing in garage rock bands in his teens. All the while recording his still unpolished form of british inspired folk music in his basement. This is something that is still prevalent at the core of Kight’s sound. His unique blend of americana and British pop music.

Dylan got a break when local studio owner, Chuck Jopski, let him record during the "down" hours of the studio. He went on a recording frenzy and recorded over 30 songs for his debut record in the course of just a couple months. All the while Dylan's restless creative spirit led him in a different direction at the same time. He fronted and recorded an album for Daydream Deferred, an indie rock band. He had transferred all his solo material(30 plus songs) to ProTools for the final editing of the record. So he could record his new band analog on the tapes he was leased by the studio.

When he got back to the studio from a tour of the south east. He went in to finish the final mixes for his debut record. To his amazement it was gone.. everything. Dylan had lost his debut record. Over 30 songs, endless nights, take after take, was gone. "I must admit my family and friends were worried for me... They thought I was going to lose it." Dylan says looking back on this devastating event. "I saw it as a sign. There was never a doubt to me. I was a songwriter, and to me it was a sign I didn't make the right record. How else could I have looked at it? I changed the title of the record. I recorded almost an entire new batch of songs and that became, No Destination but Heartbreak Ave.(2006).”

Without skipping a beat he released, No Destination but Heartbreak Ave.,  in August of 2006. A month later he began recording, The Nightbirds Revolt. It would be hard to top the dramatic events that surrounded his first record. But a narrative began to take shape. Dylan was blending stories about characters from the great depression to a girl who had never seen the ocean. Again recording during the studios “downtime” which always occurred somewhere after midnight but before noon. Dylan began being followed by what he calls, the night birds. “I would walk out to get fresh air, go listen to a mix in my car or leave right before the sun was coming up and these birds would just be screeching and wailing. It happened when I would leave our rehearsal space in Atlanta or the studio located 50 minutes away. I just couldn't shake the birds, and I started to identify with them." The title of the record was born, The Nightbirds Revolt. A dark song cycle finds it’s purpose as a whole. This is a record that will take you somewhere. This is a journey through the mind of a young singer songwriter looking for something.

Dylan has had the honor of sharing bills with The Cave Singers, Tim Easton, Hotel Lights (of Ben Folds Five fame), Jennifer O’Connor, Bain Mattox and Bobby Long to name a few. Dylan has been a member of Daydream Deferred, Casamino, The Trangressors, The Morgan Rowe Band, The Exile Circus, & The Atlantis.
