Artist Information Biography What do you do when “Perfect,” your first national radio single peaks at number 46, your record label goes chapter 11, your band mates leave and you come home to find your personal life in shambles? Well, if you’re Don Miggs, you hole up in your living room, document the past year on “tape” and release it to the world before you even understand what was happening. Then you call an old friend (Michael Lombardo) from your hometown in New York and ask if he’ll cross the country with his bass guitar to join a band that is starting over. Add to that a friend recommending a drummer out of Nashville (Ryan Scarbrough). You go on to decide that four was one too many and set about to reinvent the look and sound of the band, hitting the road harder than ever before as a three piece but leaving the idea of a collective in place to grow the band down the road if you wish. So now what? Once singled out by the San Francisco Herald as “the next big thing,” MIGGS appears to have moved out of the shadow of expectations and overcome intense odds to right things for the band. And if the reviews and growing crowds are any indication, this lineup appears ready for its close up. The San Jose Mercury News proclaimed Miggs: “…deserves to be a star,” while the San Francisco Examiner dubbed their sound “well-crafted, catchy, melodic rock,” and Billboard magazine raved, “MIGGS has a timeless quality that will keep them fresh-sounding for years to come.” 2009 sees the band poised for a worldwide push. They are signed with Rock Ridge Music, who released their album “Unraveled” in the U.S. in June of 2008. “This is a chance to rewrite history a bit, a rebirth,” says frontman and namesake Don Miggs. “We re-recorded songs from the last three albums that I just wanted another shot at and remixed some others. We’ve unraveled over the life of the band, shedding our skin to become a whole new entity. By going into the studio with these songs, we were able to put closure on the past and look to the future with a clear vision.” The hard-working act broke onto the San Francisco pop/rock scene in 2003 and have sold over 20,000 units without any true label support starting with the solid debut, “Anyway.” Their sophomore effort, 2005’s “InsOmnia,” merged bright compositions with to-the-point stories to concoct yet another disc full of ultra-catchy gems. The 2007 EP, “Late Nights & Early Mornings,” was an intimate acoustic departure that hijacked Miggs’ homespun vocal sketches to reveal undeniably gorgeous music. Since their start in San Francisco, they’ve moved around a bit and now spend their time in Los Angeles or Tampa when they’re not in their home states of New York (Mike and Don) or Tennessee (Ryan). Mostly, the band lives on the road in a 15-passenger van they’ve dubbed the “White Mist.” Relentlessly touring in said van for more than 150 dates a year since 2005, the band have built a reputation for a great live show, sharing the stage with acts as diverse as Duran Duran, Maroon 5, Aerosmith, Sister Hazel, Train, Cake, Kid Rock and Mandy Moore, Colbie Caillet while becoming veterans of the TV scene with placements on FOX, ABC, UPN and WB shows, as well as a Buena Vista video game. They also performed on Good Morning America in July 2009. MIGGS continues their tradition of blending the past fifty years of popular music into something familiar yet unique. There is a constant, clear, evolution through their past releases and “Unraveled” is set to continue the trend of capturing the deepest emotions of life – love, loss, pain – and make them seem almost palpable. Melodies soar while some of our biggest struggles and strongest emotions are put into words for us.
