Artist Information Biography Kim Manning gracefully rings in Love and Light with booty shorts and fishnets. Bursting to form infectious grooves, poetic lyrics, and a true performer with that special spark to make it all work. From tongue in cheek references, “I was played like play-doh” and “Somewhere in a Tupperware- All that’s left of our affair”, to calls for personal awakening “ I wish I could Bridge the Gap”, and “Let the Love Light come and shine on through”, to facing infidelities “Ripping Fingers pulling thumbs- Trying to choose which one is one”; Kim is raw, poignant, funny and somehow even coy. Born in the buckle of the bible belt, Ponca City, Oklahoma, Kim studied classical music from the young age of six and was “turned out” when she was hand selected by George Clinton to join his P-Funk All-stars. Here she began the stretch from holistic vegan yoga teacher to Funkadelic Rock star to VH1 Celebreality Star. Since then Kim Manning has performed around the world and on TV shows as David Letterman and the Grammy Awards and with artist as Snoop Dogg, Red Hot Chili Peppers (charting on Billboard in 2009), and the String Cheese Incedent. She’s been profiled in such Magazines as “Singer”, “Relix”, “Details”, “Hightimes” and recently chosen as URB’s Next 1000. With a strong belief that “everybody’s got a little dark, especially those with lot’s of light”, Kim began to hone in her message of tolerance and acceptance while simultaneously merging her diverse musical background into a collage of Rock, Funk, and Hip-Hop. Kim wails with 4 ½ octaves of powerhouse vocals, free styled raps, keyboard and guitar skills, and no holds bar- anything can happen performance. Kim is the product of spirit, talent, and beauty, and anyone who sees her is left inspired by the Love and Light that pours from a beautiful soul. Recently Kim has teamed up with Soul musician Lantz Lazwell for an unstoppable team. Lantz Lazwell, grew up in Sacramento California where he started his career playing with rock bands in High school. His first band Pimptations was discovered by local legend, Frank Hannon of Tesla and went on to become one of the driving forces in the Sacramento music scene. Through the support of fans and critics he received several Sacramento Music Award nominations. After separating from several successful bands, (Freakza Nature, Defy) Lantz was given the opportunity to work with John Phillips from the Mama’s and the Papa’s. During Lantz’s session John Phillips passed away. Through grievance for his lost mentor, Lantz knew it was time to move to Los Angeles which has spawned a whole new approach to Lantz’s success. In the first few months of living in LA Lantz he had landed a position as musical/vocal arranger with former vice president of Motown Records, Jeffrey Bowen and won the LA Music Award for 2007's Best Rock Vocalist. Lantz’s sound and persona has been described as Hendrix meets Jack Johnson: Sly Stone times Stevie Wonder, a tasteful blend of Funk, Rock, Hip Hop, and soul. His diverse talent is spread among several instruments. It is not uncommon to see Lantz change from keyboards to guitar or even bass within one performance. Lantz’s style is innovative and exciting. His performance is animated and entertaining with songs that are truly insightful and original. Lantz will continue his efforts to spread his love for life through music……… Instrumentation Kim Manning has been perfoming with Lantz Lazwell and her band, she also runs and fronts an improv jam called Jam Factory.
