Biography
“To write off The Afterbeat as just another sound-alike bunch of off time herky-jerks would be a grievous error!” Darryl Sterdan, The Winnipeg Sun

“This is required listening for those who'd like to think they had a finger on the pulse of the emerging ska scene” Frantic Ska Web Zine

“The Afterbeat have clearly established themselves not only in the top tier of Winnipeg bands, but also as one of the hottest up-and-coming ska acts in Canada.”
James Lambert, See Magazine

We're talking about possibly the sharpest dressed band to come out of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada!

The Afterbeat has been together since late 2000. Mixing upbeat contemporary influences into the well known soulful blend of old school Two Tone Ska and earlier Punk music. The Afterbeat have been continuously pleasing their listeners and working hard to improve their sound!

The Afterbeat were named in Alternative Press (Aug 2003) magazine by Bucket Hingley (The Toasters/Moon Ska Records) as one of the top ten North American Ska acts performing and touring. Things remain solid and they have recently released a full length album (Personals) to follow up on the success of their first EP (Balls Out). With all of this, they continue to get their name out there and always have the time to still perform for friends and fans all over North America. They have performed with such greats as The Skatalites, Bad brains, Alexisonfire, The Slackers, Bedouin Soundclash, St. Alvia Cartel, 18 Visions, Tabaruk, The Planet Smashers, Mustard Plug, Catch 22, The Johnstones and Big D and The Kids Table.

In the end you see, it basically comes down to two things: The music and the message to move your body and have a good time! The Afterbeat brings forth this feel and sound to its listeners. That's what's important, right?

Whether at a club downtown or just the radio sound, you won’t be disappointed and they will keep you coming around! The Afterbeat has begun world domination, one step at a time…….
