Artist Information Biography Hahahaes is led by master percussionist Dende, a former member of the world famous Brazilian band Timbalada. Based in NYC the group performs a mixture of Brazilian and Cuban music as well as other influences in the African diaspora. Formed in 2002, Hahahaes is named after the Indian tribe Pataxó-Hãhãhães that once inhabited the city of Salvador in Bahia, Brazil. Lead by master Afro-Brazilian percussionist Dende, the beat is always central and is tempered by thought provoking lyrics and sweet melodies.
