Artist Information Biography Comparable styles include that of artists Sheryl Crow, Joni Mitchell, Jewel, and Sarah McLachlan. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Jennifer always has had high expectations for herself so it is of little surprise that when a friend suggested that she make a vocal demo in college, she would take it far and above people’s expectations. Jennifer recorded her first vocal demo at WBCR, Brooklyn College radio and recorded on weekends after work while going to school full time. Pieces of the puzzle started to fit when she started to write music. Music was a language in and of itself - unbounded emotion through movement and sound. It is now clear that this is what she is meant to be doing. Jennifer has a passion for making a difference in people’s lives and it shows in her writing and performances. Credit must also be given to some force, some angel at her shoulder edging her on and giving her that support at times when it was most needed. FLOWERS OF GOLD, Jennifer’s debut 11 track album was self-released in January 2006, featuring tracks such as Beautiful Girl - about finding beauty in the self and Better Days - loving through the hard times. Since that time, she has written enough material to make 2 additional albums. Tracks and live performances off the album have been broadcasted on numerous national radio stations including Z100 (NY), Sirius Satellite Radio, multiple college radio stations, local and on-line stations, as well as several international podcasts with emphasis on Oriental Asia and Europe. Touring has been national and local. Live performances include SXSW with the GoGirls, self-promoted national touring, as well as popular NYC venues such as Rockwood Music Hall, The Bitter End, and The Cutting Room. She performs for the disabled population on a regular basis, a way of giving back to those in need who truly appreciate the power and healing of music. Various notable charity performances include the 2006, 2007, 2008 NYC Autism Walk and 2007 Relay for Life - the American Cancer Society. When not in the studio, writing, or performing, Jennifer spends time organizing and directing concerts for the disabled in the NYC area and regularly lectures at the acclaimed Columbia University about the benefits of music in rehabilitation. “Music is truly a universal language. I’ve witnessed autistic children who were non-verbal speak with the aid of music.” -Jennifer Richman Reviews: “Jennifer Richman is a talented singer/songwriter with a soulful voice, clearly full of emotion.” (CDBaby) Jennifer has a sweet, soothing voice and has a way of simply expressing herself.
