Biography Tracy Newman just returned to being a full-time songwriter after 16 years as a TV writer and producer. In 1997, she won the Emmy and the Peabody Award for co-writing the ground-breaking “coming out” episode of "Ellen." In 2001, she co-created the ABC/TV comedy, "According to Jim," starring Jim Belushi, which has just completed its 8th and final season of production. She cut back on her TV writing four years ago to write songs and perform around the Los Angeles area. One night, she was doing a gig in Santa Monica, and singers Lorie Doswell and Gene Lippmann were sitting up front in the audience. They started harmonizing with her and Tracy liked it, so she invited them up on stage. They've been singing together ever since. Instrumentation I sing and play guitar. Sometimes I perform alone. When I'm joined by serious harmony junkies Lorie Doswell and Gene Lippmann, we're called "Tracy Newman and the Reinforcements." Gene also plays guitar in the show. Discography Our first CD came out in June of 2007 and is called "A Place in the Sun." (www.cdbaby.com/cd/tracynewman, or www.itunes.com.) We're working on the next one which will be out in late 2009. We've had some pretty good radio and internet radio play with songs "Laraine," "Night Blooming Jasmine," and "Mama, I Know You Ain't Santa," and more recently "Waffle Boy." Links
