Biography
Simon Chan is a renowned and award winning songwriter. His songs have received critical acclaim and awards in numerous songwriting competitions including first prize and awards for his songs 'Flickering Shadows', ‘Suspended’, ‘Just a broken dream’ and ‘Come dance with me’ in Songwriters Composers and Lyricists Association of Australia song competitions in 2009, 2006 & 2005 respectively. 'Suspended' was included in the SCALA compilation CD 'Shadows and Light' of award winning songs for 2006 and 'Flickering Shadows' was included in the SCALA complilation CD of award winning songs for 2009.
"Suspended' and 'Flickering Shadows' also received Honourable Mention in US Billboard Magazine's 14th Annual Billboard World Songwriting Contest.
‘It’s gone’ was selected for the ‘Canadian Music Week Unsigned Artists 2006’ compilation CD as well as 'SoundsLike Cafe' Vol 13 compilation CD in Australia.
Simon communicates with his music. He sees writing music and lyrics as a form of creative expression interwoven with the fabric of life experience. His songs reflect life's journey and the experience and memories along the way.
Simon enjoys working in collaboration with other singers and musicians and is currently recording with Dario Bortolin, bass guitarist with Australian singer Jimmy Barnes, and performing with singer Danny Calvo at various venues in Sydney.
