Eric is in high demand for his dynamic funky soul beats. He is the monstrous, baddest drummer out there. That man can play those drums tighter than a mosquito. Just listen closely to the hi-hat followed by the kick, that grove just locks you in. He’s got the IT as in HIT factor. Some drummers can just play anything. He is diverse in all styles of music. It helps to have a wide vocabulary in the studio where he is well respected for his production skills. “Be true to the music, be true to yourself. That's the easiest thing a person could master.” Paying homage to his Creole heritage, Eric believes in just living life to the fullest while giving a little of himself and we are all the better for it !! Nate Stevens- Nate is one of music's great undiscovered treasures. He can apply fretless finess or double-thumbing furious funk workouts. As a bassist, he listens closely to the hi-hat. He likes to create the pulse of the foot with his base. It's just a feel thing!! A gifted musician he is an example of power and grace on bass. Born in Louisville, KY around the time Ronald Reagan was shot by John Hinckley. "I grew up classically trained on the viola, but my introduction to contemporary music came from my older brother who insisted on listening to Miles Davis at high volumes. Those scary sounds seeped through the walls into my room and I soon realized the orchestra was not for me. So I went downtown and bought an electric bass. I studied some jazz, joined bands, quit bands, played rock, played soul. Then I became bored and decided it was time to move to New York. Since then, it's been nothing but booze and girls and ever-increasing debt. Nowadays, I tell myself that maybe I should've stayed in the orchestra... at least they have health care. " Khalil Curtis- One of the 35 snare drummers to record on Pink Floyds "The Wall" album, track "Bring the Boys Home", contracted by Blue Ocean. He has performed with Jazz Guitarist John Abercrombie, preeminent free-jazz percussionist, Andrew Cyrille and composer/performer Eric Ross and the Eric Ross Jazz Ensemble. Khalil began playing music at age eight on piano with his father, and drums and percussion around that same time. He started playing with the drum corps as a snare and bass drummer. He studied jazz drumming in the style Joe Morello from Dick Bennet teacher of the infamous drummers Carmine and Vinnie Appice ( of Vanilla Fudge and Ozzy) and the famous Jazz drummer Freddy Waits. When he heard the internationally renowned flutist Hubert Laws play he said…"that's it, I'm playing Flute!" After studying at the Brooklyn Conservator of Music, his teacher Mary Driver encouraged him in such a way that the path was clear. She placed him in a Russian Balaliaka Orchestra which performed at Town Hall, NY and Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center. Kahlil received a B.F.S., cum laude from Long Island University (Brooklyn Campus). Khalil enjoys performing diverse styles of music, including Haitian Conpas, Meringue, Salsa, and Indian music. Presently he performs with, Wayne Hilliard and Elements, Jazz Band, the Mike Davis Harlem Heritage, 17 piece Big Band, the progressive fusion Unit named "Intelligent Design" and now with Christina Gaudet! Although a well seasoned guitar player he had little experience with this new instrument, the voice. He set out for a vocal instructor and discovered much more. With Ron Meixel as his mentor, Scott set down a path of both vocal training as well as self realization. From very early on in his playing STF was interested in the self expression that instrumental music provided. It began with progressive rock and expanded into fusion, jazz, and experimental. He studied jazz performance in college to better his skills as a player. He will always involve himself in projects that allow him to express himself musically through improvisation. Scott Thomas Ferreira is a versatile guitar player as well as a talented songwriter and arranger/producer. With these skills, his ability to play drums and bass, and a fluent knowledge of programming, he can influence an entire studio recording. These attributes make him an incredible asset to any number of studio projects. Scott Thomas Ferreira has been playing live performances for 10 years now in various bands and styles and has become a skilled performer. He has played live in many styles including rock/pop, jazz and fusion. His performing experience ranges from original rock bands, to pit band orchestras, to solo classical guitar recitals, to sideman for singer/songwriters, to his own solo, singer/songwriter project. WWW.SCOTTTHOMASF.COM WWW.LASTBROADCAST.NET Shenole Latimer- www.shenolelatimer.com Check Shenole out on myspace Described by some members of the mass media as, “a young jazz star on the rise”, award winning saxophonist Shenole Latimer has steadily gained recognition for his playing style and engaging stage presence. Latimer's passionate approach to playing the saxophone shows influences drawn from the likes of Michael Brecker, Branford Marsalis, John Coltrane, and Kenny Garrett. All of this, while still exhibiting the gift of being able to effectively communicate with his audiences through a voice and style that is uniquely his own. Through the course of his career, Shenole has had the privilege of sharing the stage with such Jazz musicians as Jon Faddis, Todd Coolman, Ron Affif, Kenny MacKenzie, Lieven Venken, E.J. Strickland, Derek Gardner, Rufus Reid, Dan Faulk, Vincent Herring, Kyle Struve, Thomson Kneeland, Willard Dyson, Dion Parson, Ray Anderson, Jerry McDonald, Nick Russo, Gerry Neiwood, and a host of others. Latimer, always open to new challenges, has also found himself working with artists from many different genres, including world music performer extraordinaire Jack Lacitra (Jack's Waterfall), blues power houses Gail Storm and Joe Vicino, pop artist Christina Gaudet, adult contemporary rock sensation Janira, and queen of neo-soul Giovanni von Essen to name a few. Additionally, before becoming a headliner himself, Shenole has served as an opening act for, Larry Coryell, Christian McBride, Cecil Brooks III, Renee Rosnes, and J.D. Allen. Shenole Latimer is a Long Island, New York native and began playing the saxophone at the age of 9. Growing up in a household that was “economically challenged”, as Shenole fondly puts it, meant that his mother was unable to afford private lessons for him. However, eager to learn about the saxophone, Shenole absorbed all that he could from his public school experiences and from transcribing some of the music he was exposed to when watching the televised jazz performances that were often aired on Public Broadcasting Stations. The young Shenole Latimer was rewarded for his efforts by receiving the Louis Armstrong Award for Jazz Improvisation, which was rewarded only to the top young jazz performers in the state of New York. As a college undergraduate student, Latimer attended the State University of New York at Stony Brook, intent on becoming a marine biologist. However, fate had other intensions for Shenole. A chance encounter with the esteemed jazz bassist Todd Coolman, who was the university’s Director of Jazz Studies at the time, would guide Latimer’s path toward becoming a member of the Stony Brook University Jazz Big Band. His fondness for jazz rekindled, Shenole worked hard under the tutelage of Coolman and would ultimately become not only the lead alto saxophonist for the big band, but also the face and ambassador of Stony Brook University’s jazz program. Latimer’s picture graced the front cover of the university’s 1998-1999 music brochure, which was circulated to over 500,000 homes in the state of New York. Additionally, Latimer was often called on by Todd Coolman to represent the university by performing in an array of special functions, concerts, and by even giving educational lectures and clinics to middle school and high school students within the surrounding school districts. Another chance meeting, one night at a New York City jazz club formerly known as Sweet Basil, would bring Shenole Latimer face to face with the man who would become the single greatest contributor to his development as a saxophonist and jazz musician – tenor saxophone sensation Dan Faulk. Shenole, immediately impressed with Faulk as both a musician and a person, would find himself studying with the tenor saxophonist for several years. Latimer still holds his mentor in the highest regard and has even had Dan Faulk perform with him as a special guest in some of his concerts. Shenole Latimer's ever advancing list of career achievements include numerous radio interviews, several television appearances, his endorsement with Vandoren (a highly respected company within the music industry), impressive concert ticket sales that include out selling world renowned performers such as Chuck Mangione, and his 2006 signing to a recording contract with the New York City / Dortmund, Germany based record label known as Tierra Records. That signing led to the release of "Front and Center", Shenole Latimer's debut album. Because of Latimer’s almost insatiable desire to excel, and his relative youth, it is clear that his greatest achievements are still ahead of him. Moreover, Shenole's charisma and uncanny ability to connect with his audiences serve as the intoxicant that will continue to compel jazz aficionados and music lovers alike to follow his career for years to come. ©2008 Christina Gaudet.
