Artist Information Biography Nominated for Best Rock Band and Best Rock Female, 2009 Carolina Music Awards. Voted Best Local Songwriter, Creative Loafing 2007 & 2008 (Readers' Choice). Nominated and chosen as a Finalist for Best Female Vocalist, 2007 Charlotte Music Awards. Born just outside of Asheville and raised in Charlotte, Lindy is a North Carolina native with nearly 15 years of professional experience at the age of twenty-nine. Singing before she could talk and writing songs in early childhood, Lindy had her first professional experience in a recording studio at the age of seven. It was in her college years that she began writing the songs which would first establish her musical style and become frequent requests at the weekly professional performances which served as her primary means of employment while earning her college degree. Lindy credits a broad spectrum of artists with having had an influence on her musical style, the most prominent of which include Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, Joni Mitchell, Radiohead, The Beatles, Ani DiFranco and The Black Crowes, but having had a broad musical upbringing, Lindy remains very much her own woman in her original stylings as well as in her interpretation of other artist's work. Performing is something which comes very naturally to Lindy, and her comfort and ease with her audience is inviting enough to not only draw a crowd, but keep them in their seats as well as bring them back for repeat appearances. Lindy and her band, the Red Velvet Manx, are sculpting out a style all their own with a tight rhythm section, deeply poignant lyrics, and unmistakable vocal acuity.
