Artist Information Biography What sort of jazz do you get when you mix original, soulfully smooth compositions and some big bluesy numbers with arrangements of contemporary popular songs? You get that Etype kind of jazz! Mike Haynes (double bass), Katrina Ryan (vocals) and Beth Lyon (sax) are Etype. Accompanied by Brenton Foster on piano and Barnabas Smith on drums, this classy five piece act perform a polished show filled with energy and simmering sophistication. Etype has independently sold over 28,000 albums, picked up two Australian Live Music Awards and performed frontline for international greats such as Harry Connick Jr, Rod Stewart and George Benson. The Weekend Australian has called them “warm and sexy”, Street Press like “their cool swinging groove”. Jazzscene say “We love this band, and believe that you will too!” Shows vary from intimate audiences of 50 people up to audiences over 800. Festival and support performances have seen the band perform for audiences of up to 35,000 people in Australia, and up to 1600 people in the United States.
