Biography
Lynn's new album, Soft Stars, was recorded with Bob Egan (Blue Rodeo).
It gave her the opportunity to work with some of the best acoustic musicians in the country: Dan Walsh (formerly of Fred Eaglesmith Band) , Bob Egan (Blue Rodeo), Lewis Melville and Leslie Feist's horn player Bryden Baird (Apostle of Hustle).
Working with those players gave her the freedom to try different things with the arrangements and brought out the best in each song.
'Soft Stars' is driven by piano and strings, while still retaining a rootsy vibe.
Lynn calls Kitchener, Ontario home and plays regularly throughout the area - Kitchener, Waterloo, Guelph, Hamilton, Oakville, Toronto etc.
Her gigs are solo or duo or as a band. It depends upon what the venue/promoter wish.
Lynn's interests/influences are varied. Leonard Cohen, Lucinda Williams, Danny Michel, Cat Stevens, Sinead O'Connor, The Skydiggers and Beth Orton. Music that is strong and rich melodically and lyrically.
Lynn grew up in small town Lucknow, Ontario and lived in Ottawa for a few years as well.
She started writing songs at the age of 8 and fell in love with the violin in her teens.
In her early 20s she picked up an acoustic guitar and soon after began penning her own songs.
She toured Western Canada in 2006, 2007 and 2008 and is heading east this spring. She was voted best female artist of Kitchener-Waterloo and area in 2006 and 2007 and receives regular radio play at UW's CKMS, Waterloo's CKWR and across the country on college radio.
Lynn's music has drawn comparisons to Alison Krauss, Kathleen Edwards and Shelby Lynne.
Her 2005 album features the late Canadian legend WILLIE P. BENNETT on harmonica and mandolin.
