Biography
Lara Herscovitch is "extraordinarily talented" (Smother.net), "fresh and invigorating" (Music Morsels) -- “one hell of a find” (New Haven Advocate). An original, charismatic singer and songwriter, her music is a skillful blend of acoustic/folk with pop, Latin, jazz and blues influences.

Her “delicious” (Indie-Music.com) songs are smart, poetic and witty, and “masterfully” (Womenfolk.net) merge soulful melodies with “perfect wordcrafting” (New Haven Advocate) and “keen intelligence” (The Chronicle). She is always engaging, “a remarkable performer” (WSHU) who sings with a voice “clear and smooth like expensive liquor” (Northeast Performer). Whether “complemented by her band or going solo, Lara charms her audience with warmth and humor” (Rhapsody In Brew).

“Herscovitch is polished and cool, and swings convincingly from moody to upbeat, in English and Spanish” (Record-Journal). Her songs cover a wide range of topics from personal to global/sociological. No matter which of her songs or albums you hear, “the more you listen, the more you will like what she does” (Green Man Review); it is “pure musical poetry” (The Courier).

Lara has four self-released albums to her credit: Through A Frozen Midnight Sky (2009, John Jennings, producer), Juror Number 13 (2006), There (2002), and Sin Tierra (2000); all spotlighting her “great and refreshing sound” (Acoustic Café).

“Herscovitch is doing a fine job of building up a rabid fanbase” (smother.net) – she has played at East coast venues including American Public Radio's A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor, The Living Room (WFUV On Your Radar), the Bitter End, CBGBs Lounge, Towne Crier, Godfrey Daniels, Stone Soup, Minstrel Coffeehouse, Acoustic Long Island, Connecticut Folk Festival, among many others...

She has opened for David Wilcox, Patti Larkin, John Gorka, Cliff Eberhardt, Cheryl Wheeler, Vance Gilbert, Ellis Paul, Aztec Two-Step and Eric Anderson, and has shared the stage with jazz great Joe Beck, Sloan Wainwright, Mustard’s Retreat, and Radoslav Lorkovic, among many others.
