Artist Information Biography We Tree is a multicultural musical collective founded by African-American, Brazilian, Nicaraguan and Puerto-Rican composers and instrumentalists, all currently based in Chicago. Drawing upon band member’s individual cultural heritage as well as their experiences in contemporary American society, Wetree have created a distinct musical identity, one which fuses elements of Rock, Hip-Hop, Brazilian, Neo-Soul, Electronica, Jazz, Funk, Free-Jazz, and Gospel music, all reflected and transformed through the musicians interaction with each other, both on stage and in the studio. Wetree have been featured at legendary Chicago clubs including Martyr's, Tonic Room, Velvet Lounge, Ice Factory, Red Line Tap, Elastic, Acme Art Works, and the Beat Kitchen, and were recently invited to appear at the Focus on the Arts Festival in Highland Park. WeTree Members: Greg Ward (USA), saxophonist and composer, has performed all over the world with greats such as Fred Anderson, Hamid Drake, Von Freeman, Brian McKnight, Al Jarreau, the Winans, Martha Reeves and the Vandelas. Josh Ramos (Puerto Rico) is currently the bass player for the Chicago-based neo-funk/soul group, Liquid Soul, as well as Panoramic, a group led by steel-pan virtuoso, Liam Teague, and has performed internationally. Anthony Capers (USA) active as a drummer, songwriter and producer, Anthony has performed with Twista, Brandy, and Liquid Soul, and has produced tracks for artists like Miss Michelle and Josie Aiello. Ed Gerber (Brazil), a member of Chicago Samba, is a virtuoso guitarist in a range of styles from Brazillian music, jazz, Indian-fusion, to Rock and Blues. Darwin Noguera (Nicaragua) has performed throughout the United States as both a classical and jazz pianist, and is the founder of the Evolution Trio and co-founder of the Chicago Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble, one of the premier African music groups in the US.
