Biography Born from sailors and hippies, Laura Brino discovered the piano in her parents house when she was 8 years old. She put her head against the keys, closed her eyes and began playing tunes that she heard her older sister practicing after school. Shortly after falling madly in love with the tinkling sounds of the wooden box, Laura pushed down the middle C and scribbled her name along with 'my life' on the inside of the key. From then on, she spent nights writing music that soothed her antsy soul. She adopted two guitars. One was blue. As she grew taller and discovered the aching pain of love, Laura spent time traveling and discovering what fed her heart. She's played shows in the creaking bars of Alabama to the legendary folk clubs in New York City. Constantly writing and experimenting with new songs, Laura has just released her third album. This time she's wearing a bird in her hair and an elephant around her neck. All of the songs on "How We Survived" (with the exception of 'How We Survived' and 'My Only') were written, performed, recorded, mixed and produced by Brino in her tiny bedroom near the Chesapeake Bay. The album showcases her breathy voice and her play on words, writing songs about garage sales and running shoes, as odes to new lovers and confessions to ones that were lost. She doesn't always make sense when she talks, but her songs spell out a meaning that is far more telling than her conversation. "All the roads that I know begin where they end....my feet feel heavy and I'm ready to fly again...I keep wanting what I leave."
