Artist Information Biography The Redaction* is a three-piece pop/rock band based out of Atlanta, Georgia. Using its remarkable songwriting ability, the band has created a sound that belongs squarely in today's indie pop/rock genre, yet keeps its roots in the radio rock of the 60's and 70's. Imagine the power of Foo Fighters, the pop sensibilities of Switchfoot, and the depth and passion of Snow Patrol and Lifehouse. When I’m Through Making Peace, the band’s first full-length release, most powerfully demonstrates what The Redaction has to offer. It was written, produced, and recorded entirely by the band’s three members. This hands-on approach allowed them to make the kind of recording they wanted—a finely crafted album like the classic-rock era records they grew up admiring. The album is built on a foundation of radio-ready songwriting. To those songs The Redaction added what each of its members does best—Andy Yates’ impassioned vocals and driving guitars, Jared Lace’s melodic drumming, and Mike Jeter’s lyrical bass and piano work. When I'm Through Making Peace is an album of both challenge and expectation. Yates colors his lyrics with perceptive insights into modern life, descriptions of struggle and discovery, and a dose of critical spirituality. Songs such as "The Next Big Thing" and "Give Me Something" lament today's lack of creative leadership. Tracks like "Just You Wait And See" and “When I Make It” remind us to celebrate our unique personal experiences. And the final songs on album, "Follow Where I Go" and “No Greater Thing” stand as reminders that a life well lived can be full of justice, hope, and joy. In The Beginning Before producing its current album, The Redaction released its Brand New Year EP in 2006. The single from this record, "Southside," won an on-air contest on Star 94, an Atlanta top-40 station. This win earned The Redaction a spot at the Starfest music festival, where the band opened for artists including Train, Pink, and Nickel Creek. "Southside" has also gained airtime on radio stations in Atlanta, Columbia, SC, and Montgomery, AL, and won several awards on Garageband.com. The Redaction has played extensively in music venues across the Southeast and Midwest, developing impassioned fans wherever it goes. They continue to tour across the region in support of When I’m Through Making Peace. The band is also looking for managerial representation.
