Biography
Terra's got  the heart of a young girl, but the soul-stirring thoughts of a woman who knows what she wants.  And if Terra has it her way, she'll one day hold the No.1 spot on the rap charts.

Terra, who has been rapping for nine years, shares ideas in her music that set her apart from other female rappers.

"The music industry needs more young female rappers," Terra said.  "I keep it real.  I write my own songs and I write from the heart... when I'm happy, sad or mad.  I am just being Terra.  I rap because that is the way I express my feelings.  I am a young lady and I can't say everything that I want to say, so I express myself in my songs."

And that's what Terra does through her music, which she says is a style all her own.  "We have Bow Wow and Lil Romeo...  I'm going to bring my own style, and I'm going to express what I feel in my heart.  I'm not going to hold back."

Terra started rapping in 1999 when TLC's "No Scrubs" was on the charts.  She looks up to her favorite performer, the late Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, and industry insiders say that Terra has that same strong, defiant sound and attitude.  "I like her style and she didn't care what others thought of her," Terra said of Lopes.  "She expressed herself, and in my heart, she is my big sister.  She inspired me in many different ways.  Her music and spirit will live on through me."

Terra has a mature look at life because of the way her cousin Michael and Godbrother Vernon died.  It affected her and her music greatly.  "We as people need to care for each other and stop the violence," Terra said.  "We can be here one minute and gone the next.  We only have one life to live, so we should live it right."  Heavy words for a high school student, but that's the type of thinking that spawns the words of Terra's music.

And there's no holding back from what she wants.  Terra plays point guard for her high school, Cass Tech, and for an Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) team called Triple Threat.  Terra's an excellent student, she has earned the President's Education Award in recognition of outstanding academic achievement.  She also won a Writing Award from Ivan Ludington Magnet Middle School for outstanding writing achievement in the Creative Communications Poetry Contest, which was published.  Terra is also a memeber of Melodies Youth Under Construction, a positive hip-hop group that speaks and performs, and she participated in Ludington's Detroit Area Pre-College Engineering Program (DAPCEP).  Terra is also a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and serves as its youth choir director.

Once you hear her music you won't have to ask why, you'll understand she has a young heart and a strong mind.  You'll just want to know where to go to see her live or pick up her first CD called "Terra-Fied."
