50+ Gigs Booked through Sonicbids! Artist Information

Biography
Sarah Pierce was born in Rockford, Illinois and raised in rural Texas and Colorado. The daughter of a cowboy raised in a family of cattlemen (4 generations of Pierce's can be found in The American Angus Heritage Foundation), Sarah's dream was to be a singer, a dream that began to take shape when she was 12 years old. Her stepfather was a small town doctor by day and played bass in the local country band on the weekends. One day he asked her to come along and sing a few songs. After one song, Sarah had a gig. Now, after 6 critically acclaimed albums, and tons of touring, the faces around her have changed, the music has become her own, and she still has a gig! Cool. Nowdays, folks say things like...

SARAH PIERCE-Cowboy's Daughter: It might seem like she’s an under the radar princess that only recently got her eye on taking the crown away from Nanci Griffith as the Lone Star songbird, but this Illinois transplant has been at it a while, learning lessons, making contacts and getting it down right.  Like a novelist that has blossomed in obscurity while waiting for lightening to strike, this set will seem like it came out of nowhere to the uninitiated.  While it leaves them thunderstruck, long time fans will be able to grin the knowing, smug grin that comes when their darlings finally hit it.  A delightfully stellar folk/country flavored set that doesn’t have a wasted track or moment and certainly delivers the goods.  The kind of set that too many of the old reliables haven’t been delivering lately, fans of solid songwriting and performances that really connect will be glad to have this come their way.  A winner throughout.

"Wow, here's a young comer that has captured the industrial side of Emmylou Harris and has a better handle on it than Harris. While it's always rough to follow in someone's footsteps, the world wise Pierce brings her own stuff to the table and makes you wonder how the majors have missed out on her." - Midwest Record Recap

"The first thing that jumps out at you when listening to Sarah Pierce is that voice. It’s powerful and emotional, a little bit country, and a little bit rock and roll. Pierce’s voice has been compared to Emmylou Harris, Nanci Griffith, Joni Mitchell and Shawn Colvin. That’s pretty impressive company." - Suite 101

“SARAH PIERCE: One of the queens of the back 40, part singer/songwriter, part folk-rocker and part Austin good old girl, Pierce continues to solidify her skills. With a ton of roadwork between releases, you can feel what Pierce has absorbed along the way making each new outing a real new outing. Fueled by sharp writing and keen observation, this set is going to grab ears of singer/songwriter fans with both hands. Solid work from an artist with a lot on the ball and a lot to show for her effort." - Midwest Record Recap

Instrumentation
SARAH PIERCE: acoustic guitar and vocals (see bio)

KENNY GRIMES: acoustic and electric lead guitar and vocals - I met Kenny in 1994 shortly after I moved to Austin. I immediately fell in love with his playing. We've played together off and on ever since...including some great trips to Europe. Before joining back up with us, Kenny worked with Curb recording artist Hal Ketchum. He has also performed with artists such as Willie Nelson, Jerry Jeff Walker, Hank Thompson, Shelly West, Chris Wall, Gary P. Nunn, and Johnny Gimble to name a few. I love his playing and the excitement he brings to our shows. I am so very honored that he has once again joined with us.

DOUG HUDSON: acoustic guitar, mandolin, and vocals - Doug, Merel, and I have played together for three years. I cannot begin to express how honored I am to have Doug perform with me. In my humble opinion, he is one of the finest acoustic guitar finger style players alive as well as a fine mandolinist and a GREAT singer. Doug has performed with the legendary folk duo Hudson and Franke, Robert Earl Keene, Lyle Lovett, Robert David Hall (Emmy Award winning actor on CSI Las Vegas) and Nanci Griffith - before becoming an integral part of The Sarah Pierce Band

CARL LOSCHIAVO: acoustic double and electric bass and vocals - I have been a fan of Carls playing for a long time having seen him play with various artists in the Austin area. Both as an electric player and even more so as an acoustic bass player...at the University of Miami, he spent 5 years as a jazz performance major. His understanding of many musical styles brings an interesting...and I think unique...'voice' to my music. His experience is vast and his talent exceptional. This talent has allowed him the privilege of opening the Monterey International Jazz Festival for Chick Corea and the late Dizzy Gillespie. We are all really proud of having Carl be a part of what I feel is the best band of which I have ever been a part.

MEREL BREGANTE: drums, hand percussion, and vocals - I really don't quite know what to say about Merel. He has been my drummer, producer, production manager, best friend, and husband for a long, long time. I am so proud that he is a part of this adventure. Merel began his career with the LA based seminal folk rock band The Sunshine Company. Since then he has recorded and toured with, among others, Loggins and Messina, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, John McEuen, Tony Rice, Byron Berline, Sam Bush, Chris Hillman, Steve Martin, Pure Prairie League, and Gary Morris.
