Artist Information Biography The Hummingbirds bursted into the Detroit music scene, quickly making a name for themselves in the Americana Music community. A high energy duo with strong determination, Rachel Lynn and Stephen Grant Wood (S.G.), are both, individually and collectively, unique in their musical talent. Both Rachel and S.G. have distinct voices and well-defined sound that they have clearly made all their own. With an accomplished stage presence that comes only through experience, The Hummingbirds have won countless fans across states. The intertwining of vocals and sharing of melody and harmony is a signature sound of the duo and is consistently present throughout performances. The Hummingbirds have a rare talent of making their two piece outfit sound as if it were a full band with a rhythm section. There newest release, “Lonesome”, is a seven track EP of some of their most expressive and honest songs. The recording showcases the award winning writing ability of the duo, who draw much of their inspiration from country music of the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. Prior to this EP, The Hummingbirds released their first full length CD, simply entitled, “The Hummingbirds”. The recording was an overwhelming success with both fans and critics, winning the 2006 Detroit Music Award for Outstanding Country/Folk recording.
