Biography
"Hey, Casper & the Cookies!

What's up with this Modern Silence record???
A double album?"

Yes!  It's a great value in today's difficult economy.

"Sounds complicated.  Can I tap my foot to it?"

Sure, if that's what you're into.  Some of the songs are just rockin' little numbers for everyday use.  Others might make your head spin for a minute.

"Oh, I love feeling dizzy!  Does it contain any good story-songs?"

We've got a few anti-love songs and a couple of actual love songs.  A fictional story about America's most popular jazz-mime, murdered at the zenith of his career-- and still playing today.  Disassociative disorder in touring musicians.  Lobotomies.  Little girls and insects.  A gospel song for an alien.  Japan.  There's a song about no longer being somewhere, during which the band disappears and is replaced by upwards of 35 other people.

"Lovely!"

Casper & the Cookies' Modern Silence.  You're welcome.

Since the release of The Optimist's club (Aug '06), the Cookies have been trying like damn to break the odometer on the Dodge; they played over 120 shows in 2007.  The album earned high praise and articles in Allmusic.com, Variety, Relix, URB, USA Today.com, Under the Radar, Tiny Mix Tapes, and Harp Magazine, Creative Loafing Atlanta, Performer Magazine, and Flagpole Magazine amongst many more.

In early 2007, the Cookies performed a month of shows supporting The Apples in Stereo across the nation.  At the 2007 Athens Popfest they were honored to perform as Daniel Johnston's backup band for one beautiful evening.  They dedicated 2008 to recording the follow-up, with a tour of Japan in February and some dates with Dressy Bessy in October.

2006 saw the Cookies headlining shows across the US and Canada in support of the new album and sharing stages with The Blow, Architecture in Helsinki, Deerhoof, Hidden Cameras and The Whigs. They also took time to play a few instores and radio shows, including one for Daytrotter.com.
