The Swingset Mamas are two rockin' moms, whose music has spawned an avid network of fans including children, parents and educators. This song-writing and performing team are keyboard player Marlowe Bechmann and guitarist Lizzie Swan, who infuse their playful, inspiring tunes with their own mom-tested wisdom- making everyday activities fun for the whole family!!
Whether making sun safety fun with the "Sunscreen Dance", featured song in the EPA Sunwise Program, eating healthy with the reggae-inspired "Colors of the Rainbow", or fastening your seatbelt to a hip-hop beat with “Buckle Up” – now played on SIRIUS Satellite Radio - The music of the Swingset Mamas appeals to kids and parents of all ages.
In 1999, both women became mothers and shared with each other the songs they wrote to soothe their newborns. Using the rhythm and realities of everyday life - a baby’s first words and steps, new family roles, growth, frustration and separation - The 'mamas translated family life into kitchen dance songs and naptime lullabies. From the soulful, “When Daddy comes home” to the Calypso-infused “Colors of the Rainbow”; the Mamas’ songs tap into the most fundamental joys and struggles of parents and their children.Recent winners of a 2009 "Best of the Gold Coast CT" Award for "Best Romper Rock" The Swingset Mamas continue to create and share their musical folk wisdom at venues across the country.
When Marlowe's oldest daughter was diagnosed with autism, Marlowe came to realize that music can also be a therapeutic learning tool. The Swingset Mamas wrote "TAKE A WALK IN SOMEONE ELSE'S SHOES" as a way to promote awareness of special needs children as well as inclusion of all children. It is about the lessons special needs children teach us about inclusion for ALL kinds of people. With its spiritual upbeat tempo, this song will get toes tapping and people singing at the same time getting across the powerful message of inclusion.
