BIO:
The daughter of a Holocaust survivor and Swedish mom, Rykarda Parasol (her real name), began writing and performing after returning to her native San Francisco following some years living in both Los Angeles and Texas. Her experiences became the inspiration for poignant songs about isolation, detachment, and death. Those true accounts have a dominant space on the album “Our Hearts First Meet”.
NEW RECORD:
Rykarda is working on a new record to be released in early 2009. Long time friend and Austin producer, Mike McCarthy (Spoon/Trail of Dead) is lending an ear and hand to the project. The album is well underway with release expected in 2009.
TOUR/SHOWS:
In the past few years, Parasol has shared the stage with artists such as Frank Black, Jason Collett, Jolie Holland, the Trail of Dead, 50Foot Wave (Kirsten Hirsh), Chuck Prophet, Jonette Napolitano (Concrete Blonde), the Bellmer Dolls, and American Music Club among others. She and her band have performed at SXSW (Austin, TX), Popkomm (berlin), The Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival (San Francisco), The Orange Blossom Festival (Germany), The Mission Creek Music Festival, and Benefit for the Austin Music Network. Rykarda continues to tour in Europe (Germany, France, and Poland) and the US (most recently Pacific Northwest and Southern California).

Instrumentation
We are four charming people;

4) Nick: Drummer
We require three vocal microphones, microphone on snare drum, and sometimes direct box for acoustic guitar and/or keyboard. A bottle Jack Daniels helps, but we can play without it too! ... The band is made up of 2 electric guitars and amps, bass guitar and amp, and full drum kit + main and backing vocals … We also have stage plots if needed.
