Biography
THE SPIKES are an Irish rock band formed in 2005 who have catapulted themselves to considerable success in a short time through a mixture of hard work, an ear for a 'killer melody' (Metro), an undeniable ability to 'mine a groove' (Hotpress) and a legendary live show that is undoubtedly 'energetic' and 'stylish' (Irish Times).

THE SPIKES have been confirmed as headliners for the DUBLIN ROCKS! FESTIVAL - WINTER TOUR which kicks off at The Village in Dublin this November 13th. The festival travels across 8 counties over the space of a month. Also on the bill are Irish bands Alphastates & The Beat Poets

Since the release of current EP “We Are”, THE SPIKES have had a massive rebirth in Ireland with repeat airplay from the country’s leading music stations and appearances on national TV. They have spent the summer on stages all over the country and have even made front page headline news in Metro newspaper following a now legendary live set at the Castlepalooza festival in August. Since then THE SPIKES have headlined the prestigious Phantom First Friday monthly sellout at The Academy, Dublin with new 5th member - lead guitarist Paul Hogan.  Having previously supported the brilliant Black Rebel Motor Cycle Club, THE SPIKES are excitedly looking forward to their support slot with Modest Mouse this December in Dublin.

Currently the lads are in the studio with producer Mark Reddy working on their 2nd album which is set for release in Spring 2010 and having secured a distribution deal with RMG THE SPIKES sound will echo around the globe.

We Are.. a brand new EP by THE SPIKES was released in Autumn 2009. It boasts three tracks "Super Modern Queen", "Chain Me" and "Betty Ford". Recently recruited producer Mark Reddy who has worked with the likes of James Morrison, finally found the sound THE SPIKES had been craving and Mark is again at the helm for their eagerly awaited 2nd album.

THE SPIKES have already released four singles, racking up chart success, critical acclaim and regular radio airplay. February 2009 saw the release of debut album 'Urges and Purges', a record that won attention from the Irish media, respect from industry mouthpieces and brought reward to the starved fans of THE SPIKES. However, the band felt that the record didn't serve their live sound enough. Hence they have rocketed onwards to arrive at the production of We Are a celebration of 21st century rock.

THE SPIKES music has featured on many diverse releases in the past.  "Painted In Gold" is featured on an Irish Artists compilation CD being released for the 2009 christmas market.  Their Irish version of "Fear Seo" was critically acclaimed on the CEOL 07 album released by the Irish Speaking Society.  Their song "Showman" featured on the DVD of Munsters successful European Heineken Cup victory in rugby in 2008.  The GAA have used their song "Act your Age" in their Fair play campaign and "Betty Ford" became the theme song for the Irish Surf Association.
