Four Fifty One delivers a melodic punch as jarring as a jab from Ali and as distorted as Picasso's bent on reality. Indie rock with 60s infused melodies and hooks... Biting guitars with pointed lyrics and affecting vocals. British invasion meets California surf rock, jumps in a time machine and floors it. Drew Robinson's vocal style and on-stage persona is both creatively and sonically captivating. Yanni Giannaros together with guitarist Chris Frazier and bassist Marquis Hudson lay down licks and grooves that stick in the heads ears of even the most discerning music critics.
The Maryland based band are hesitant to define their influences, though their playlists range from Wilson Pickett to The Doors and The Strokes on one day, to the Velvet Underground, Joy Division or The Shins the next. Comparisons aside Four Fifty One maintain a style that is still totally one of a kind. Wanna talk sound; the four piece is 70's indie garage spiked with retro-80's nu rock. Tracks are filled out with smart and pointed lyrics ranging from topics like wronged lovers on Socks and Shoes to caricatures of image obsessed girls who spend too much time in tanning beds on Orange Shell Breakdown.
After completing a 15 city late-summer tour in 2006 the teenage band performed "Socks and Shoes" live on CW Network's Season 3 premiere of "Veronica Mars." Four Fifty One also performed at the 2006 CMJ Music Marathon in NYC followed by three weeks on the Upshot Energy Tour in the fall. Their song "Nagolove" was featured on NBC's "Friday Night Lights" in January and they spent the spring doing mini tours along the east coast including dates on the Virgin College Megatour featuring Talib Kweli, Ne Yo, Ben Folds, and Cartel. Four Fifty One's self titled debut ep, produced by Adam Moseley(The Cure, John Cale, The Buzzcocks) and released by Mophonics, is available digitally everywhere.
