Artist Information Biography When the eclectic 'indie-rock' duo, DIM LIT DAYLIGHT, told all their friends in Southern California that they were planning a 3+ year tour, everyone said, "Be careful and have fun." When they sold all their stuff, loaded whatever was left in their van and hit the road, headed west, with a mere handful of shows on the calendar, everyone said, "Those guys are CRAZY!" 21 States, 28 Months and 250+ shows later, everyone is now asking, "When are they coming back!" DIM LIT DAYLIGHT's eclectic sound is a mix of 'indie rock' & 'electro pop' — and although their style has evolved over the course of their travels, they still aspire to bring a heart & soul to their performance as well as the passion of personal experience to their lyrics and music. When asked what they sound like, the guys often reference their influences. Bands like 'The Cure', 'The Beatles', 'Blind Melon' and 'Death Cab for Cutie' — just to name a few — have been a source of inspiration for the group, but they admit that they like to mix it up and are always looking to re-invent themselves with each new song. Ask any 'Dim Lit Fan' what the band sounds like and you'll never get the same answer twice. They have been compared to everything from 'Jack Johnson', 'Maroon 5', 'Van Morrison' and 'Counting Crows' to 'Death Cab for Cutie', 'Damien Rice', 'The Police' and 'John Mayer'. Someone even mentioned once that their song, 'Velvet Elvis' from their 1st album, was somewhat reminiscent of a young 'Roy Orbison'. "Fans always want something new, and we want the opportunity to deliver something different and unexpected with each record. It's safe to re-write the same song over and over, but the real excitement is trying to find something new in your sound." says vocalist Josh Free. With the first few months of the 3rd year of touring under their belt, DLD look to the future with all the dedication and determination they hit the road with. In addition to releasing their 3rd record this year, the duo has plans to spiral out, re-visiting the east coast and expanding into other territories with their distinct brand of indie rock. Only now, they have both time and experience on their side as they re-invent the future with each new day. Instrumentation Joshua Free | vocals, guitar Anthony D. The 11 track album spans the range of their eclectic style, while keeping the 'acoustic roots' at the heart of the bands sound. From soulful tracks like,'Four Verses'' to somber ballads like, 'Shine', or the 'glossy electro/pop' grooves like, 'Everywhere' and 'Changing Lanes' they always looks for that something that is distinctly 'Dim Lit Daylight' in each song. And as a final 'tip-of-the-hat' to one of their influences, they included a ghost track, featuring a string quartet cover of The Cure's, 'LOVECATS'. __________________________ TIME MACHINE (c) 2007 DLD/ADR Shortly thereafter (Jan. '06) they left for tour with their new album in hand. During the next eight months they wrote and recorded their 2nd album, TIME MACHINE, which was released on A.D. Records in early 2007. On 'Time Machine', DLD began to stretch out and explore their more 'alter-native/indie-rock' side with songs like, 'Time Machine', 'Train' & 'Just a Dream', layered with distorted guitars and beefed up drums, & others like, 'Hi-Tops' & 'Dewdrops' with rich textures and quirky sounds which felt more like 'tuning in' to a college radio stations weekend playlist. The band is currently in studio writing and recording their third album, tentatively titled, 'SHADOWS & MACHINES' and plan to release this summer.
