I have been Charmingly described by press and bystanders as a kind of Woody Guthrie on a party mix of Viagra and Magic Mushrooms. but honestly-  Coffee,sweet potato pie,spring water and (colorful language) are my substances of choice. THE LIVE BAND is named- The Howlin' Muddy Hooker Rhythm Genius. Music and the inspiration it takes to create it, and the dedication it takes to nurture it -cannot be canned or marginalized by industry PIMPS. There's just too much SOUL out Here. I BELIEVE THAT OR I'D NEVER PICK UP ANOTHER INSTRUMENT OR WRITE ANOTHER SONG. A sense of Humor is just as important as a sense of purpose in my approach to songwriting. My music might be best described as SWAMPADELIC THUMP. (This is a catagory I created for myself, a stew consisting of Blues,Swamp-funk,Nawlins Riddim,DC Go-Go,Political Grit,Northern Metal and Southern Charm) And Cowbell. Lots. My Specific Writing influences are: WILLIE DIXON,Long John Baldry.John Hiatt, Steve Earle, Don Van Vliet, Don Byron,Willie Dixon, Lowell George, Daniel Brayton,Sun Ra,Zimmy(of course!)James McMurtry,Tony Joe White, and the sacred triad of Howlin Wolfe-Muddy Waters- and John Lee Hooker. (The Butthole Surfers ,Root Boy Slim ,Keith Richards and Dr. John deserve honorable mention) I believe in Peace and I'm Anti-war. Music is the Antidote to violence and discontent.
