Coulter is able to deliver on all counts." --Chesapeake Music Guide ABOUT: In just a few short years since his return to performing, singer/songwriter Billy Coulter has made a name for himself with inspired and energetic performances gracing the stages at some of the Mid-Atlantic’s top venues and festivals including: The Birchmere, Rams Head, Strathmore, IOTA and Celebrate Fairfax, frequently supporting national acts. Coulter’s distinctive voice won him the Washington Area Music (WAMMIE) Award for Roots Rock Vocalist of the Year. (He and his band have been nominated for a total of 15 WAMMIEs since 2004.) Drawing on influences as varied as Bob Dylan to Squeeze, Coulter creates an organic sound that seems familiar but is definitely new. His new CD, Dose, has been hailed as his best work yet and delivers more of his fearless expressions of loneliness, loss, humor and hope. Standout tracks on the new disc include the catchy pop-rocker Party of One, the raunch ‘n roll jam I’ll Be Happy When..., his fan’s favorite cover Ring of Fire and the funked-up blues of Conscience. His writing received honors from the Billboard and Mid-Atlantic Song Contests, including 2005 Rock Song of the Year (Disconnected) from the latter. Already, two of the new tracks, “Party of One†and “Conscience†were honored in Billboard’s recent competitions. Billy performs acoustic solo/duo/trio shows or as a 5-piece band and is available for events of all kinds.
