Artist Information Biography Sometimes it's folky; sometimes it's poppy; sometimes it's just plain frenetic. Whatever the case, there's always something for everyone at Kelcy Mae's shows. Living in New Orleans, Kelcy has to always be on her toes, and she keeps her audience that way, too. I mean, how many other people have you seen play a resonator uke? Yeah, sure, she stays mostly acoustic, but sometimes you gotta put down the guitar for a song or two. New Orleans will never need a "Keep New Orleans Weird" bumpersticker campaign. Neither will Kelcy Mae. She enjoys too much the quizzical look she gets when she finishes the straightforward happy-go-lucky pop tune and charges into an epic, indie what-does-that-word-mean rock song. Kelcy Mae grew up in Louisiana and took several years of music lessons, but she'd tell you she sure wishes she'd practiced more. She also has a B.A. in writing from Loyola University New Orleans and an MFA in poetry from the University of New Orleans, but she'd tell you she didn't study enough, either. It's hard to focus in this city. Really. Inspiration just bombards you. Instrumentation Kelcy Mae can play solo or with the following backing band: Kelcy Mae - vocals, acoustic guitar and/or piano Andy Neubauer - lead guitar Kyle Sharamitaro - drums Owen Romero - bass guitar Lucy Cordts - banjo, vocals Discography The Times Compiled - November 2007 1.
