Biography REIGN LEE BIOGRAPHY Restless melodies and overdriven guitars provide the perfect backdrop for Reign Lee’s haunting voice. Her autobiographical album, “BROKEN SKYLINES,” is lyrical yet dynamic, firmly establishing her as a singer-songwriter with an edge. With influences as diverse as Patti Smith, the Cars, Nirvana, Gram Parsons and the Pixies - Reign Lee has carved out her own brand of melodic Alternative-Rock with a signature sound. "Reign Lee’s latest CD, Broken Skylines is a tour de force of catchy alternative rock, passionate lyrics and pop sensibility…an outstanding CD…” – Skope Magazine Reign was born off the beaten track in the town of Hamilton, Ontario - worlds away from the shores of Hong Kong. But somewhere in between, over the course of the years, she has lived, worked, and studied in Ontario, Alberta, Arizona, Beijing, Illinois, New York & Hong Kong. Born to a European-Canadian mother & a Chinese father, Reign's multi-cultural background helped sow the seeds for her restless travels to the ends of the world. After years of playing in clubs & bars all across the globe, Reign's musical journey was hyper-charged into motion after securing a gig to a packed house at the Cowell Theater in San Francisco in 2004. The multi-instrumentalist has created her own independent label for her releases called Vereign Records. Her first full-length collection of songs on the limited edition LP, "Open State," spawned a #1 listener's choice song, "Weaker States" on indie beginning radio on-line. With the release of her album, "BROKEN SKYLINES," ABC networks indie music showcase, Fame Games, singled out her popular song, 'HELENA,' after finding her on MySpace and quickly put the song into rotation. She's regularly a featured artist on Fearless Radio's popular program in Chicago, New Music Binge. She has also seen enthusiastic reviews & responses propel her to the top of the MySpace charts where listener's ranked her the #1 Alternative Indie Artist from Hong Kong. In the summer of 2007, Reign was announced as the winner of the International Free Ride Song Contest. In the fall of that same year, Reign embarked on a 12-city East Coast tour of the US in support of her acclaimed album, "BROKEN SKYLINES," which included a live appearance on the Tim Qualls show. Reign has recently released her EP, "HOLDING BACK THE BEAST," a collection of electronic-flavoured songs recorded over a fortnight in Washington, D.C and Arlington, VA.
