Biography
Drinking from the same water and breathing the same Detroit Rock City air as the White Stripes, Eminem and Kid Rock -- not to mention predecessors such as Mitch Ryder, Bob Seger, George Clinton andthe entirety of the Motown roster -- NATIVES OF THE NEW DAWN were formed in the Detroit suburb of Ferndale from the ashes of a rap trio that included MC Vince Mann and Gary “DJ Goo” Hoenicke.

Evolving into a dynamic package of sounds and influences, Natives tightly pocketed rhythm section consists of bassist Rob Kershaw and drummer Tom Wachter, while the fierce guitar work of Joe Fikany, soulful singing of Tony Nouhan, and raw intelligence of MC Vince Mann create the band’s unique, genre-bending style and sound.  The bands “Motown inspired rock/hip-hop mash up” (TMZ.com) musically jumps all over the map, while maintaining a carefully crafted, crowd engaging, frenzied stage show  -“it’s a bona fide joyride that still maintains the craft and credibility of sterling musicianship.” (Gary Graff, Associated Press)

Since their inception in 2004, Natives have embarked upon three years of heavy independent touring.  Highlights include being named “one of the best unsigned bands in North America” by Ernie Ball Music Man for their participation in their Warped Tour Battle of the Bands 10 (2006), three consecutive summer’s on the Van’s Warped Tour, and a second place performance in Germany as part of the Emergenza International Battle of the Bands, which included 10,000 artists from 13 countries.

Choosing to uproot from their home of Detroit, MI in 2007, and leave behind a massive, loyal fan-base, and the kind of support that garnered them 16 Detroit Music Awards nominations between ’04 -’06, Natives moved to Los Angeles, CA to live and work on their new album, Bliss.  Released in the summer of 2007, Natives launched a 34-date D.I.Y summer tour in support of the release, including 18 stops on the Van’s Warped Tour -appearing on Kevin Says Hot Topic Stage, and Ernie Ball Music Man.

2008 marked another ground breaking year for the band, embarking on their Summer TOURMERICA!, which made 32 stops across the country, including 9 dates on the Van’s Warped Tour as well as a national fall tour in support of legendary ska/punk/soul pioneers FISHBONE supporting all 28 stops across the country.

In 2009, the New Dawn has jumped back into the studio to record their first full length studio album in 3 years.
