Biography
In a world filled with obligations and rules, songwriting is the one freedom I have where there are no rules to follow. For me, in songwriting, my biggest freedom, and my biggest challenge, is to be able to “step outside myself” and tell a story from someone else’s point of view.

Michael Brett is an indie artist who released his third record in October, 2006. Entitled "In the Basement (with Rosie)", and recorded with acclaimed singer/songwriter George Wirth, the 13 tracks were captured in their purest form of just acoustic guitar and lead vocal, with occasional harmonies, guitar fills, and harmonica. Written over a period of 3 years where he learned to hone and fine-tune his songwriting craft, the songs integrate several musical genres, including rock, jazz, country, folk, and blues.
