Artist Information Biography Luis first arrived in Los Angeles in February of 2005. With a thirst to perform live, he began to book cafes around the area with fellow songwriters. One of the most valuable relationships he made was with promoter, PoetRoniGirl, who at the time hosted an open mike at a Panera Bread in Studio City. She brought him into a small artist community, which made a platform available where he could refine his craft and meet other talented songwriters from the area. A year later, she would open up her show, Acoustically Speaking, at a beautiful venue called The Room 5 Lounge. In 2006 Luis was given a musical residency there every first Wednesday of the month. At this time Luis was still performing solo acoustic music. He had found opportunities to perform in slightly larger venues and was continually searching out new opportunities. As a special treat for his parents who were visiting for a week, Luis began preparing for a show. With the help of three friends he had met through the open mic circuit, there was a backup singer, guitarist, and bassist for the event. An ad was then posted on Craigslist for a percussionist. Enter Roberto Gutierrez, bandmate, friend, rhythm-extrordinaire and co-founder of Noble Creatures. The show followed through beautifully and from then on Roberto took Luis under his wing. In late 2006, Roberto and Luis went into the studio to record his debut EP, My Great Escape. They teamed up with producer, Matt Bobb, and engineer, Oren Hadar, to create an eclectic, colorful and solid production of five original songs. The tracks "A Sweeter Thing" and "the Way We Do" aired on Bunkradio.com, WPMD.org and KBBE 96.7 FM. The EP would prove to usher in a new positive chapter in Luis' musical career. In search for a new apartment, fortune lead Luis into an apartment complex of creative minds where he met his neighbor, Cass McEntee. A talented singer-songwriter himself, Cass joined as the bassist in the project. His characteristic sound, natural sense of phrasing and dynamics solidified and drove the songs home. Meanwhile, Roberto set up a rehearsal with a friend of his. Sure enough Shane Burroughs fit right in. With his top-notch guitar soloing, and multi-instrumental skills, Shane gave a rock edge to the sound. Noble Creatures started to take shape and started courting the stage. In the meantime opportunities to write music for some reputable clients were presented. Among many projects within 2006-07, Luis wrote music for IMF, Swarovski, and Nickelodeon. This all was a prelude to score for a full-feature space adventure film. The film currently in production, Max Neptune and the Menacing Squid, could not have come at a better time. It was a full orchestral project pulling out all the stops. Since 2008, Luis and the directors, John Garside and Colin Flemming, have been meeting and preparing for the completion of the film. Later that year, the lead singer of the rock band El Camino invited Luis to fill in as a guitarist. It was in a rehearsal where he met Marcos Mora. He was a rhythmic and groove powerhouse. Luis invited him to rehearse with Noble Creatures to see how he would like it. The rest is history currently in the making. Noble Creatures has played countless shows and continues to entertain crowds in the L.A. area. Lately they have broken into the festival circuit performing for Pasadena's Rock City Fest, Topanga Days, the Orange County Fair, Santa Barbara's Fair, and World Festival. At the beginning of 2009, they filmed a professional music video, and have also landed a residency at the Venice Bistro in Venice, CA. They are now anticipating the release of their first four tracks recorded together in the fall. Also, Noble Creatures has recruited a horn section, Danny Kay & Rubens Salinas, and special guest artists, Cliff Beach, Soul Sista Marissa and Brian Sturges, within the last few months. Determined, focused, hungry and ambitious, Noble Creatures and Luis NariƱo are gaining momentum, planning, and are looking forward to what lays ahead.
