Artist Information Biography Although born and raised in Alaska, like some migratory bird he ultimately left and called Washington state home for several years, before moving to Oregon where he now resides. "I am an artist who performs predominantly original material," Dan says, "and throughout my life my focus has remained my passion for music." In 2006, Dan was named "Performing Songwriter of the Year" by the Portland Songwriters Association, and two of his songs took top honors in the Folk/Acoustic and Country/Americana categories of a national song contest judged by a group of distinguished insiders from the music industry. In addition, one of his compositions (in several variations) is featured on "Getting Into The Groove", an instructional CD by well-known songwriter, teacher, and author Jai Josefs (www.jaijomusic.com). Instrumentation Most often Dan performs solo, accompanying himself on the piano or guitar. When the occasion and/or the venue calls for it, he enlists the aid of one or more fellow-musicians to add sax, bass, percussion, etc. Discography Dan's song, "I Can't Get Over You" is featured on Jai Josefs' (www.jaijomusic.com) instructional CD ("Getting Into The Groove"), and several other songs (such as "Wondering", "If I Was The Ground", and "Can We Still Be Friends?") have been featured on the Top 10 lists of the Northwest, Oregon, Classic Rock, and Blues categories at Broadjam (www.broadjam.com). He has also had several songs forwarded by Taxi (www.taxi.com) for consideration on several major projects. In addition, he is in the early stages of preparing his next CD for independent release.
