"Lansdale Station is what I call a Fundamental Pleasure Group, that has all the basics down cold and then fills in the right details and delivers performances that still feel very much of the moment - think Buddy & Julie Miller or Gillian Welch & David Rawlings as prime examples. From the dead solid songwriting to the crisp musicianship, there's sturdy bedrock, which Lauren and Judge use as platforms for their spirited, character-filled voices to soar. There's wonderful boy-girl energy to the pair, though each sings with serious oomph on their own, too. Trying to describe voices like theirs is akin to cataloging the flavors of fine wine. Better to just roll it around for a while and let the bouquet saturate your senses. These are kindred spirits, musician's musicians who've retained the palpable excitement of music making. They resonate with unbridled enjoyment, and better still with a mojo that is anchored to maturely crafted fare."
Named after a demolished train station in Marin County , Ca. , Lansdale Station formed over the summer of 2005, when a union of legendary Bay Area players came together to record Lauren Murphy's album, "Magnolia Heart." The result was a powerful concoction, melding 'Southern Roots' music with the psychedelia of the 'New San Francisco Sound.' Now in their 4th year, momentum, versatility, and reputation has earned Lansdale Station widespread radio support and coveted Main Stage slots on the Festival Circuit and at Destination Venues.
Coming from the jazz/rock/electric band ZERO, lead vocalist , Judge Murphy, teamed up w/ his wife, Baton Rouge born, New Orleans bred composer, vocalist, guitarist, and dancer Lauren Murphy (HOUSELEVELERS/ZERO). The two have been compared to a nouveau Grace Slick & Marty Balin, with the intensity of Janis Joplin, emanating a sexy symbiotic power that charms.
Lansdale Station's touring band is : Lauren Murphy on vocals & guitar, Judge Murphy(ZERO) on vocals, Rayner Brock(JUDGE MACKERAL/ KING PERKOFF), Dana Miller (CHROME JOHNSON/ MOTHER TRUCKERS) on drums, & Dave Zirbel (MOTHER TRUCKERS/ COMMANDER CODY) on pedal steel, dobro , and lead & slide guitars.
The band's successful performances in the last 4 years, has quickly strengthened their reputation, landing them at high profile venues including KGO Radio & ABC Studios, Sausalito Arts Festival, Trinity Tribal Stomp, The Mystic Theatre', Krush Wine Country Radio Backyard BBQ, Biscuits & Blues, Sweetwater Saloon, Humboldt Hills Hoedown, Last Day Saloon, Live on KPIG Radio, Benbow Summer Arts & Music Festival, Rancho Nicasio, and more, while garnering co-bills w/ talent the likes of 2 time AMA winner James McMurtry, Multi Platinum Artist Raul Malo, The Neville Brothers , Elvin Bishop, Roy Rogers, Peter Rowan, Dan Lebowitz of ALO, Junior Brown, New Monsoon, The Mother Hips, Papa Mali, Pete Sears, & Vince Herman's Great American Taxi.
