Artist Information Biography NEW SONGS ON AUDIO PAGE! NEW VIDEO LINKS BELOW! In January 2010, Greg will celebrate the tandem release of a new CD and a DVD. The CD, "Basically Sane" collects Greg's best songs recorded in the same vocal and guitar arrangements he plays live. "Live at Hippie Jack's" is an hour-long DVD of a festival performance featuring Greg's songwriting, singing, guitar work, and old-time fiddling. The DVD was recorded in 2007 at "Jammin' at Hippie Jack's" in Crawford, TN. Parts of hit have been broadcast as part of a syndicated Public Television series. What should Americana music be - a new frontier or a time machine? When you hear Greg Horne, you know the answer is both. It’s the American paradox: the most enduring artists have been those that dig deep into tradition to find their way to a unique, unmistakeable voice. Many of Greg’s songs are about people who find themselves separated from the group. A discarded rag doll considers life in the laundry pile, a 17th century castrato explains his condition to his date, ex-president Jimmy Carter encounters a Brownie Scout while on a walk in the park. Greg's voice duets with his inventive guitar playing and old-time fiddle. When it comes to picking and songwriting, Greg literally "wrote a book on it." Thousands of aspiring players have learned from Greg's seven books and DVDs (Alfred Publishing), and internet lessons (www.WorkshopLive.com). Greg has toured the country every summer for 20 years as a faculty member of the National Guitar Workshop. Greg is becoming a familiar face at the Folk Alliance conference and at venues and festivals in the Southeast. He has also played on recent tours and albums by songwriters Jodie Manross, Beth Wood, Deirdre Flint, and Tim Lee. He has been seen crunching telecasters at Bonnaroo and making sawdust out of fiddle tunes at contradances. Whatever the venue, Greg plays for the song and lives for the moment the next one begins.
