James Gordon and Sons
You might know James Gordon. Been around a while. 35 albums solo or with the ground-breaking roots trio Tamarack. Songwriter-in-residence for years with CBC radio’s “Basic Black”. Songs recorded by the Cowboy Junkies, Melanie Doane and many others. His ‘Frobisher Bay’ was featured on
“Canadian Idol”, and has been recorded by more than 30 artists world-wide. His song “Mining For Gold” was featured in the John Sayles film “Silver City”. Toured relentlessly across North America, the British Isles, Japan, South-East Asia and Cuba. Written symphonies, plays, and produced CDs for many folk acts.
His greatest achievement has been the co-production of two new musical forces to be reckoned with: Evan and Geordie Gordon. They haven’t exactly been following in their father’s footsteps. They are making their own in a big way. Evan has toured with two Juno-nominated indie-rock bands, “The Constantines” and “Royal City”, and his own group “Evan Gordon and the Sad Clowns” is making waves with an acclaimed new CD. Geordie is best known for his work with the “Salt Lick Kids” and the “Barmitzvah Brothers”, who toured Europe this year and are often cited as a ‘next big thing’! Together the boys play in "the Magic"- which has been all over North America tearing up the indie scene.
In a desperate attempt to maintain some ‘street cred’, James enlisted the help of his two fine sons to tour this year and to record a collaborative CD, NINE GREEN BOTTLES. Evan produced, and plays bass, drums, guitar, ukelele, keyboards and horns. Geordie adds violin, cello, keyboards, mandolin, trombone, guitar, drums and bass. They’ve allowed their old man play guitar, banjo, piano, trumpet, harmonica, mandola, accordion and tin whistle.

Discography
James Gordon has released close to 40 albums over a thirty year career. His kids Geordie and Evan are catching up fast. Geordie has 4 CDs out with his band THe Barmitzvah Brothers, 2 with "The Salt Lick Kids" and Evan has two solo albums out with his backup group "The Sad Clowns". Their new project "The Magic" has generated rave reviews and major label interest. James has to fight for available calendar dates with them.
