Artist Information Biography Yes, it’s true, we’re twins! Our names are Courtney & Stephanie and we go by our last name FERA. Born and raised in Vancouver, BC, Canada by our parents Tony and Rose along with our two older sisters. Our dad (pharmacist by day, musician the rest of the time) taught us to play guitar at age 8 and immersed us in all different types of music including The Beatles, Everly Brothers, Elvis (Presley and Costello), Fleetwood Mac, Squeeze, Michael Jackson, Crowded House and tons more. At age 14 we discover Hanson, learn to play the drums and practice everyday. We accumulate journals of lyrics, we pretty much dislike everyday of high school but finally graduate in 2000. We play our first show in Maui at our dad’s Pharmacy Convention, we hear Patty Griffin for the first time, and we turn our lyrics into songs and record our first demo CD, “The Music Room”. We find a sincere passion and ability for song writing, we play everywhere in town from coffee shops, open mics to pubs and record our second demo CD. We hire a live band, record our third acoustic demo CD and begin playing bars and festivals including MountainFest, New Music West and more. We give our demo to award winning country Producer, Tom McKillip and he loves it. With Tom on board, we record our first full length, full band CD entitled, “Familiar Feeling”. We release two singles off Familiar Feeling, “Dark, Dirty, Dusty Hallways” and “It’s Gonna Be Ok” to Canadian Country Radio and tour Vancouver Island and the Interior of BC a few times. We never stop song writing, we win some song writing contests, we get nominated a couple years in a row at the BC Country Music Association Awards, and we never stop playing. We are chosen to play the Songwriter's Cafe Showcase at the '08 CCMA festival along side Victoria Banks and Lisa Brokop and earned ourselves a one song publishing deal with OLE Publishing (2008 CCMA Publisher of Year) for our song, "Fairytales". At this year's CCMA festival we were asked by OLE Publishing to judge their Hitsville Seminar and help them find new songs. We just finished our new 4 song CD produced by Tom Mckillip and Paul Shatto (first ever collaboration between the two) and were recently chosen to open up for Prairie Oyster at their show at the Clarke Theatre in Mission this past September.
