Biography
Elwell was born in Hibbing in the summer of 1983 and spent his formative years playing punk rock in Duluth, MN. After four years of Midwestern and East Coast tours, three records (CDs) and hundreds of sweat-soaked and blood-stained shows, Islero called it quits in the spring of 2006.

Elwell decided to strike out on his own. This decision to take a solo path to his music career resulted in his move to southern California in the early summer of 2006. The vast cultural and climate differences between Minnesota and southern California proved inspirational to his songwriting process. The ensuing boom of songs resulted in the self released eight song E.P., the aptly titled "Different Places".

Elwell's songs are an emotional and intense brand of songwriting that  have been compared to Bright Eyes, Glen Hansard, Nick Drake and Bon Iver, among others.

In 2007 Elwell embarked on a college radio campaign through Tinderbox Music out of Minneapolis, MN and was featuring on over 200 college radio stations around the county. "Different Places" has recently been licensed for use on MTV's The Hills, Real World/Road Rules Challenge, Newport Harbor, OXYGEN's Bad Girls Club and LIFETIME's America's Psychic Challenge for use on television in late 2007 and early 2008.

In the summer of 2008 Elwell began his follow-up to "Different Places", which wound up being titled "New Ground". Elwell enlisted several friends and musicians to be a part of "New Ground", expanded his stripped down sound into a full sonic experience. The arrangements are more vast than before, while songs retain the intimate quality that draws the listener in.

Upon the release of "New Ground" Elwell toured up and down the East Coast, South and Midwest. He performed at Red Gorilla Music Fest in 2009 during SXSW and competed in the famous Eddie's Attic Songwriter Shootout in Atlanta, GA.

Elwell is set to release his most ambitious work as of yet in 2010, expanding his sound evermore with full arrangements and a vast array of musicians and instruments. It is sure to draw attention of many over the coming months.
