Artist Information Biography Check out new videos on myspace and you tube! Mary's EP "Don'T You KNow I Love The Leavin'" is now in stores, on the radio and gettin' great reviews! co-produced with Kim Hurdon and Craig Mason, recorded at Boom Box sound in Toronto and HIFC in Bancroft, ON. This fall Mary headed to Montreal and onto the movie set to appear in producer Kevin Tierney's (Bon Cop Bad Cop)new movie 'The Trotsky', playing her song 'Already Gone' which she wrote for the film. It hits theaters spring 2010. Five years ago Mary opened a vintage clothing shop on Dundas west in Toronto. She thought it would be a good way to practice her guitar playing without anyone telling her to get back to work. Between the days pedaling vintage wares and practicing her Travis picking, Mary was also busy honing her live shows-from playing the Free Times and The Cameron in Toronto, The Bitter End and CBGB's in New York to Hallwells Contemporary arts center in Buffalo, to an official showcase spot at last years OCFF conference in London. She's now closed up shop and will be hitting the road in support of her new cd just as soon as she can. Part folk, part garage sale, occasionally ridiculous, she gets the audiences attention with the offbeat and then keeps it with the incredible strength of her songwriting. And while she may throw in a tap-dance solo, or sing-along to a 60's muzak lp on her grandmothers record player, it is her crafted, funny, poetic, occasionally heartbreaking songs which continue to gain her a loyal following. Mary was born in Montreal and grew up moving between cities and small towns. She had no music training, apart from a six month stint of piano lessons when she was five and learning to play Greensleeves on the recorder in elementary school music class. Mary has been a recurring guest with the amazing Friendly Rich and the Lollipop People, been a featured guest on npr's buffalo avenues, Take 5 and Tender Parade, been published in American Songwriter magazine and recently had her song canons used in a commercial for MTV. Prior to her upcoming cd's release, Mary has had several songs from it placed in music catalogues from Australia to L.A. She currently divides her time between Toronto and her cabin near Bancroft, ON Instrumentation Mary Milne plays acoustic guitar, electric guitar and harmonica. Sometimes she'll also bang a tambourine with her foot, or a kickdrum and hi-hat. Sometimes she'll tap dance, though not especially well Discography sister rodeo 2006 hardbones 2005 Links
